Sandbanks is a narrow spit of about one square kilometre reaching into the mouth of Poole Harbour, in BH13. In its early years it was known as Parkstone-on-Sea, and it stayed largely undeveloped until Sandbanks Road was built after the First World War. Today it is almost entirely residential and known for its award-winning beach and high property prices — in 2005 it was reported to have the fourth highest land value by area in the world. Clothes that should not go in a home machine — silk, cashmere, tailoring — are exactly what our dry cleaning is for.

Where in Sandbanks we collect

We cover the whole of Sandbanks across BH13 — Banks Road and Panorama Road along the spit, the harbour-side homes by North Haven Lake, and the roads back towards Evening Hill and Lilliput. Lilliput, Evening Hill and Canford Cliffs are on the same rounds, so a boundary address is covered too.

Two landmarks sit near the tip of the spit: the chain ferry that crosses the harbour mouth to Studland, and the Haven Hotel, built in 1887, where Guglielmo Marconi carried out wireless experiments in the late 1890s — in 1899 Sandbanks became the third place in the world with a permanent wireless station. On the harbour side, North Haven Lake is used for water sports, and the Royal Yachting Association has its southern headquarters here.

The rest of the household goes in the same collection: clothes, towels and bed linen washed, dried and folded, duvets too big for a home machine, and shirts ironed on request.
