Laundry collection and delivery in Walkford

Walkford is a suburb at the eastern edge of Christchurch, in the Highcliffe & Walkford ward, BH23 5, where Dorset meets the Hampshire parish of New Milton. The name was first recorded as “Walkeforde” in the 15th century, in connection with Milton parish to the east, and probably meant a crossing over the Chewton stream, now called the Walkford Brook. A settlement called Walkford is only noted from the late 19th century, and most of it was built in the early-to-mid 20th century, so it is mainly a place of homes, with two pubs, a village shop and a B&B. This page covers both the home basket and the business one.

Where in Walkford we collect

We cover all of Walkford across BH23 5: Ringwood Road and Walkford Road, Walkford Way, Chewton Common Road and Chewton Farm Road, Amberwood Drive, Marlpit Drive, Braemar Drive, Highland Avenue, Tresillian Way, Greenways and the closes off them. Highcliffe, Barton on Sea and Old Milton are on the same round, so an address on either side of the county boundary is covered too.

Walkford is edged with woodland: Chewton Common and Marlpit Copse lie on its western side, and the wooded chine of Chewton Bunny runs down to the sea to the south. It shares a parish council with Highcliffe. Television fans may know one of its streets: from the second series of One Foot in the Grave, the outside of the Meldrews’ house was filmed on Tresillian Way.

What gets collected most around here

From homes it is the everyday wash — clothes, towels and bed linen, washed, dried and folded — with the things that should not go in a washing machine added to the same collection: winter coats, suits, dresses, silk and wool. Those are dry cleaned separately and come back on hangers, so there is no separate drive to a dry cleaner in Christchurch or New Milton.

For the two pubs, the cafés and the B&Bs around Walkford it is table linen, tea towels, bar towels, aprons and guest bedding, collected on a fixed day each week and returned washed and folded. Households book through the same form as the rest of our Christchurch service, and businesses can ask for commercial rates before the first collection.

How our laundry collection works: you hand over the bag at your door, we wash and fold it, we iron and care for each item, and we deliver everything back.

Laundry in Walkford — common questions

Do you collect laundry from Walkford?
Yes. All of Walkford is on our BH23 5 round — Ringwood Road, Walkford Road, Chewton Common Road and the closes off them — and so are Highcliffe, and Barton on Sea and Old Milton just over the county boundary. Book a slot and we pick up from your door.
How much does laundry cost in Walkford?
It depends on the service and how much you send. Current prices are shown on the booking page — pick your service there and you will see what applies before you confirm.
Do I have to visit a launderette?
No. The wash and the dry cleaning are both picked up from your home in Walkford and brought back to you, so there is no launderette and no separate dry cleaner to visit.
Can you wash duvets and large bedding?
Yes — duvets, duvet covers, sheets, pillows and mattress protectors are handled as bedding and household linen. These are the items that usually will not fit a domestic machine.
How long does it take?
The collection, washing, ironing, and delivery of your items typically take 24–72 hours from the time of collection. The exact turnaround time will be confirmed once your items arrive at our laundry facility.
Do you take on business laundry in Walkford?
Yes. Pubs, cafés and B&Bs in and around Walkford can hand over table linen, tea towels, bar towels, aprons and guest bedding on a fixed day each week and get them back washed and folded. Ask us for commercial rates.
