Laundry collection and delivery in West Cliff

West Cliff is the stretch of Bournemouth on the cliff top west of the town centre — south of Westbourne and east of Branksome in Poole, across BH2 and the edge of BH4. Where it meets the town centre on Exeter Road, a wing of the Royal Exeter Hotel was built as the home of Lewis Tregonwell, who founded Bournemouth as a health resort in 1810; the Bournemouth International Centre, opened in 1984, stands opposite. Behind the cliff the roads are lined with small hotels, guest houses and blocks of flats, so guest-room linen and the everyday wash come from the same few streets.

Where in West Cliff we collect

We cover the whole of West Cliff — the hotel roads such as West Hill Road, Tregonwell Road, Priory Road and St Michael’s Road, the blocks of flats along West Cliff Road and West Cliff Gardens, and Durley Road and Durley Chine Road towards the BH4 end. The mix keeps shifting: the West Cliff Hotel on Durley Chine Road had a £1.4 million refurbishment in 2019, and in 2023 plans were announced to demolish it for flats. Some things stay put. The West Cliff Railway, opened by the council in 1908, still carries passengers between the promenade and the cliff top on a 44-metre track with a gradient of over 70%, from April to October. St Michael’s Church on Poole Road, designed by Richard Norman Shaw and consecrated in 1876, is listed Grade II*, and Durley Chine below is a Blue Flag beach with views to the Isle of Wight and Old Harry Rocks.
