Family Laundry Service in Burton, Christchurch

Burton is a village just north-east of Christchurch, on a gravel terrace above the Avon Valley, strung along the old road from Christchurch towards Ringwood and Salisbury. Its oldest buildings go back to at least the early 18th century, but most of the village was built in the 1970s and 1980s: today it has more than 1,700 homes, nearly 4,000 residents and a noticeably younger population than the rest of Christchurch. Young families mean full washing baskets — and that is the load we collect and bring back.

Where in Burton we collect

We cover the whole of Burton across BH23 — the roads around Burton Green, the residential streets off Salisbury Road, and the southern end of the village towards Staple Cross. Winkton, Purewell, Somerford, Portfield and Christchurch town centre are on the same rounds, so a boundary address is covered too.

Burton Green is the heart of the village: St Luke’s Church, built in 1874–75 to a design by Benjamin Ferrey, and the United Reformed church both stand on it, and carols are sung around the Christmas tree there each year. The poet Robert Southey lived in Burton from 1799 to 1805 and is said to have written the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears here, while Burton Hall, an 18th-century house listed Grade II*, is now divided into flats.
